HIDDEN AWAY along the winding backroads of the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula are the homes of some very early immigrants to Virginia. Pictured is Indian Banks in Richmond County, built in 1728 on the site of an earlier home built in 1699. See this & other homes whose histories are laced with tales of founding fathers, wealthy wives, Indians, freed slaves, ghosts & murder! Private tours are offered year-round to small groups (3 to 5 people). A written history of each house is provided at the start of the tour.
HALF-DAY TOURS TO HISTORIC HOMES in Lancaster, Middlesex, Northumberland & Richmond Counties are offerred WEEKDAYS at 10am - 1pm OR 1pm - 4pm. (Saturday tours may be scheduled with 2 weeks notice). Tours are on-site stops with commentary, not house tours.

OPTIONAL "DUTCH TREAT" LUNCHES at historic taverns in Lancaster & Northumberland are offered following morning tours.
OPTIONAL TRIPS TO WINERIES are offerred on THURSDAY AFTERNOONS ONLY. Wine tastings at ATHENA VINEYARDS (Northumberland tours only) are $3.00 per person. Tastings at WHITE FENCES (Lancaster tours only) are $4.00 per person & include a souvenir glass. Approximately 8 wines are offered.

TOUR #2: HISTORIC HOMES, COURTHOUSE & TAVERN, LANCASTER COUNTY: See 5 historic homes (one built in the 1600s) & visit the Lancaster County Courthouse District, home of the Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library & the Lancaster Tavern.
TOUR #3: HISTORIC HOMES OF NORTHUMBERLAND, SCENIC BALLS NECK & DAMERON MARSH: See 6 homes, including 1 built by Landon Carter, & 2 by the Lee family and end with an optional trek through Dameron Marsh on Chesapeake Bay. (Wear comfortable walking shoes & bring your camera.)
TOUR #4: HISTORIC HOMES & COURTHOUSE IN NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY: Visit 6 homes in the Heathsville Historic District & Courthouse area, most built on land owned by the wealthy Harding family.
TOUR #5: HISTORIC HOMES OF MIDDLESEXCOUNTY: See 14 houses in Middlesex including one built in 1688, one that was a stop-over for George Washington on trips to Williamsburg, & one that was the site of William Clark’s departure when he joined Meriwether Lewis on their westward journey.
